Mayfield Neurosurgeons Share Their Expertise
With Brain and Spine Specialists
CINCINNATI – Neurosurgical experts from 24 states and three countries will attend the Winter Clinics for Cranial & Spinal Surgery, an annual symposium jointly sponsored by the Mayfield Clinic, Cleveland Clinic, Mayo Clinic, and Methodist Neurological Institute. The symposium, scheduled for Feb. 26-March 3 in Snowmass Village, Colo., will feature presentations about new treatments for some of the most challenging neurological conditions known.
Mayfield Clinic Neurosurgeons, fellows and residents are affiliated with The Neuroscience Institute at The University Hospital and the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine.
Mayfield experts in brain disorders, injury, and treatment
will make the following presentations:
- Mario Zuccarello, MD, will present (1) “Licox and Vasospasm: Preliminary Results” (with Chiraz Chaalala, MD, resident at the UC College of Medicine); (2) “STA-MCA Bypass for Ischemia: CT Angio”; (3) “Posterior Cerebral Artery Aneurysms”; and (4) “Case Presentation: Surgery vs. Coiling” (with Troy Payner, MD, of Indiana Surgical Group).
- Andrew Ringer, MD, will present (1) “Long-term Morbidity for Coiling Aneurysms”; and (2) “Endovascular Training in Neurosurgery.”
- John M. Tew, MD, Clinical Director of The Neuroscience Institute, will present “Treatment of Tentorial Meningiomas.”
- William Tobler, MD, and Jeffrey Keller, PhD, will present “The Varied Faces of the Sphenoid Bone.”
- George Mandybur, MD, will present “Balance Control Changes after STN-DBS.”
- Philip Theodosopoulos, MD, will take part in a panel discussion about neuroendoscopy.
- Dr. Chaalala will present, “Micro CT Angio in Wild Type & TIMP-1 Mice.”

- Charles Kuntz, IV, MD, will present: “Sagittal Spinal Alignment.”
- Chad Morgan, MD, fellow at the UC College of Medicine, will present “Is it Safe to Teach Spinal Instrumentation?”
- Drs. Kuntz and Morgan will present “Lumbar Arthroplasty: Fact and Fiction.”
- John M. Tew, MD, will present “Spinal Dural Sealant.”
- Robert Bohinski, MD, PhD, will present “Multilevel ADCF with PMP.”
