Mayfield Neurosurgeons To Share Their Knowledge With World's Brain and Spine Specialists

CINCINNATI – The Winter Clinics, an annual symposium jointly sponsored by the Mayfield Clinic, The Cleveland Clinic Foundation, and the Mayo Clinic, will feature presentations about new treatments for some of the most challenging medical conditions faced by neurosurgeons. Neurosurgeons, orthopedists, neuroradiologists and neurologists from around the world will attend the Winter Clinics, scheduled for Feb. 23-27, at the Snowmass Conference Center in Snowmass Village , Colo. Mayfield Clinic Neurosurgeons and residents are affiliated with The Neuroscience Institute at The University Hospital and the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine.

Mayfield experts in brain disorders, injury, and treatment will make the following presentations:

  • Raj K. Narayan, M.D., Chair of the Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, will present Clinical Trials in Head Injury.
  • •  Mario Zuccarello, M.D., will present Technique vs. Technology: Robotics in Neurosurgery.
    •  Dr. Zuccarello and Jeffrey Keller, Ph.D., will present Carotid Ophthalmic Artery Aneurysms: Relevant Surgical Anatomy and Presentation of Clinical Results.
  • Andrew Ringer, M.D., will present (1) “100” Aneurysms: Decision Making of an Endovascular Neurosurgeon through “The Retrospectroscope” and (2) Percutaneous Vertebral Body Access: Comparison of Techniques.
  • John M. Tew, M.D., will present (1) Tentorial Meningiomas and (2) Trigeminal Neuralgia Treatment.
  • Philip Theodosopoulos, M.D., will present Tumors of the Infratemporal Fossa.
  • William Tobler, M.D., will present Introduction to Intraoperative CT : Cranial Applications.
  • Chad Morgan, M.D., will present The Importance of Bilirubin in Neurosurgery.

Mayfield experts in spinal disorders and treatment will make the following presentations:

  • William Tobler, M.D., will present ( 1) Intraoperative CT : Spinal Applications; and (2) Experience with Minimally Invasive Lumbar Pedicle Screws Using the “Pathfinder System.” Dr. Tobler also will present a hands-on workshop entitled Minimally Invasive Spine Techniques.
  • Charles Kuntz, IV, M.D., and P. Colby Maher, M.D., will present two hands-on workshops: (1) Instrumentation and the Cervical Spine and (2) Instrumentation and the Thoracolumbar Spine.•  Dr. Kuntz and Chad Morgan, M.D., will present Video-Assisted Thoracoscopic Approach to the Brachial Plexus.
  • Robert Bohinski, M.D., Ph.D., will present Sagittal Plane Deformity of the Thoracolumbar Spine. Dr. Bohinski and Randy Davis, M.D., will present Clinical Management of Spinal Disorders: Case Presentations.
