Dr. Lori Shutter joins Mayfield Clinic & Spine Institute

CINCINNATI - Lori Shutter, MD, PT, a neuro-intensivist/neurotrauma specialist, has joined the Mayfield Clinic & Spine Institute in Cincinnati.

Trained as a neurologist, Dr. Shutter is based in the Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit (NSICU), located at The Neuroscience Institute of University Hospital. She addresses the day-to-day problems of critically ill patients, both surgical and nonsurgical, in the NSICU and the Progressive Care Unit at University. Dr. Shutter also works closely with neurosurgery and neurology residents to provide focused on-unit education in both specialties and serve as Associate Professor of Neurosurgery at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. In addition, she has a special interest in traumatic sports-related injuries. Dr. Shutter began treating patients when the newly expanded 12-bed NSICU opened to patients on September 10.

Dr. Shutter comes to Mayfield from Loma Linda University School of Medicine where she was associate professor of neurology. She received her medical degree from Emory University, Atlanta. Her training continued with a neurology residency at the University of Alabama Hospital, Birmingham, and Emory University Hospital, Atlanta, and a fellowship in neurorehabilitation at Moss Rehabilitation Research Institute in Philadelphia. She is board certified with the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

Dr. Shutter is a member of the American Medical Association, American Academy of Neurology, American Society of Neurorehabilitation, and National Stroke Association.
