Dr. Andrew Ringer joins Mayfield Clinic & Spine Institute

CINCINNATI -- Andrew J. Ringer, MD, has joined the Mayfield Clinic & Spine Institute in Cincinnati as neurological surgeon, specializing in endovascular surgery for the treatment of aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations, carotid and intracranial artery disease, and stroke, and in vertebroplasty for spinal disorders.

Dr. Ringer received his undergraduate degree from Cornell University in 1989 and graduated from the University of Illinois College of Medicine in 1993 where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. He completed a residency in neurosurgery at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine in 1999. Dr. Ringer went on to complete a two-year fellowship in endovascular surgery at the University of Buffalo.

Dr. Ringer's research interests include cerebrovascular disease and stroke. He has investigated the role of programmed cell death in stroke, and vascular response to thromboembolism, injury, and endovascular device implantation.

Dr. Ringer is Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and Director of the department's Endovascular Laboratory. His professional memberships include the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, Congress of Neurological Surgeons, and American Medical Association. He is board eligible with the American Board of Neurological Surgeons.
