Dr. Charles Kuntz Joins the Mayfield Clinic and Spine Institute
CINCINNATI-- Charles Kuntz, IV, M.D., has joined the Mayfield Clinic & Spine Institute in Cincinnati as a neurological surgeon, specializing in spine and peripheral nerve surgery.
Dr. Kuntz graduated Magna Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Holy Cross College in 1987 and Alpha Omega Alpha from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in 1991. He received the William D. Holden Award for expertise in the art and science of surgery. After completing residency training in neurological surgery at University of Washington in Seattle, and further training at Atkinson Morley's Hospital in London, he finished a combined orthopedic- neurological surgery spine fellowship and a peripheral nerve fellowship at the University of Washington. His research interests have included programmed cell death in the neurodegenerative diseases and spinal instrumentation.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Kuntz is Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery, Associate Director of Spine and Peripheral Nerve Surgery, and Director of Spine and Peripheral Nerve Research in the Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. He has completed mission work to the Appalachian Mountains, as well as the Andes Mountains in Peru, plus other philanthropic work.
Dr. Kuntz' professional memberships include the American Medical Association, American Association of Neurological Surgeons, Congress of Neurological Surgeons, and the North American Spine Society. He is board eligible with the American Board of Neurological Surgeons. As a neurosurgeon with Mayfield Clinic & Spine Institute, Dr. Kuntz has admitting privileges at most major hospitals in Greater Cincinnati. The number for appointments is 513.221.1100.
