In 2007 the Mayfield Clinic proudly established its support of South Avondale Elementary School through a new program called Tiger PAWS (Partners at Work & School). Tiger PAWS is facilitated by the corporate Partners in Education program of the Cincinnati Youth Collaborative (CYC). The CYC seeks to reduce dropout rates in the Cincinnati Public Schools while helping every youth in Cincinnati realize his or her potential.

Through our partnership with South Avondale, which has 363 students in grades pre-K through 8, we assist with tutoring, mentoring and fund-raising. Our tutoring efforts include helping students with their everyday academic work as well as helping prepare students in grades 3 through 8 for the Ohio Achievement Tests (OAT). Our mentoring efforts include a pen-pal program designed to nurture self-esteem and the life skill of writing letters.

We also sponsor a career day, and we recently funded new uniforms for the Tiger girls’ volleyball team.
