A variety of memorial and education funds have been established within the Mayfield Education and Research Foundation, a nonprofit foundation designed to support the neurosciences in the Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky community through the research and academic missions of the Mayfield Clinic, Good Samaritan Hospital, The Christ Hospital, and the UC Department of Neurosurgery.

The objectives of the Foundation are:

• To support research and education in Neurological Surgery, in conjunction with the Neurosurgery Residency Program based at Good Samaritan Hospital, Christ Hospital and University Hospital

• To support and carry out the purposes of the medical education program and related activities of the UC College of Medicine and neuroscience educational programs at the three teaching hospitals

• To enhance and support clinical studies, laboratory research, publication and teaching of neuroscience

• To extend financial and other assistance to needy and/or deserving individuals for their neurosurgery education

• To provide or supplement support to personnel through fellowships, grants or stipends

• To provide an opportunity to perpetuate Dr. Mayfield's ideals with regard to research and neurosurgery resident training at the three adult teaching hospitals

Because the fund incurs little administrative cost, all contributions benefit patients, family members and research projects.
